Kodiak Assembly Solutions Adds Fuji America XPF to Production Line
Staying updated with new and innovative ways to implement effective solutions and production for their clients, Kodiak Assembly Solutions recently added both capacity and capability to their facility with the addition of the Fuji America XPF machine to their surface mount technology production line.
This new equipment, a surface mount technology component placement system, which is commonly called pick-and-place machines, are robotic machines utilized to place surface mount devices onto a printed circuit board. Used primarily for high-speed and high-precision placement of a broad range of electronic components, the XPF-W model pick-and-place chip shooter is the first of its kind. With the inclusion of a dynamic head exchange and several other new capabilities that allow for multiple functions, the XPF machine paves the way for more efficient production at Kodiak Assembly Solutions.
The Fuji America XPF Machine
The XPF machine is both a high-speed chip shooter and a multi-purpose mounter and can also be used as a dispensing machine. The machine includes the world’s first automatic head exchange system. By using this dynamic head exchange while the machine is operating – a first for its kind – it’s now made possible to set up a production line using only one type of machine, the XPF-W, instead of the previous method, which consisted of using several different machines equipped with different functions to complete one job.
The new capability allows Kodiak Assembly to add capacity to the facility and enables efficient production by eliminating the typical method – which involved using two separate machines assembled in a production line to place parts. Now, with the XPF model made by Fuji America, it’s possible to set up an efficient production line using one machine.
Along with adding capacity to the overall facility and assembly production, this robotic machine can accommodate a printed circuit board up to 20” x 27” without having to increase line length. In addition, the newly added components to the XPF machine, such as the revolver auto-tool and the single nozzle, the XPF can function as a chip shooter while offering the versatility of a multi-purpose mounter.
The Fuji America XPF chip shooter joins other production equipment including 3 lines of SMT equipment, AOI, x-ray inspection machines, flying probe testing equipment, solder machines for assembly and other various test and measurement equipment.
