Kodiak Assembly’s Role in Shaping the Products of the Future
Because we live in an ever-growing and adaptive world, the drive to develop and implement new technology has become a vastly competitive space. Companies are constantly striving to create the better product that transforms the way we do everyday things. As a manufacturing partner, what has become Kodiak’s role in all of this? The Kodiak Assembly team often helps companies on this path to developing technology and products that better serve our world. For instance, Kodiak has played a role in two major products that aim to transform common activities we do on a daily basis.
NXP BlueBox Computer
If you’ve heard that self-driving cars are the future, you’ve likely heard of or about the NXP BlueBox Computer / Driving Platform. The BlueBox computer is a mobile computing platform for building and testing self-driving capability in cars. Kodiak Assembly Solutions assembled the Printed Circuit Boards that go into the BlueBox Driving Platform. Currently, several automakers are utilizing the BlueBox computer to test the self-driving capabilities in automobiles – an advanced and technical feature that has been watched closely for several years.
It’s far from using an actual robot, but the BlueBox Computer operates the driving function of a car almost completely on its own. The driving platform uses two chips that process 90,000 million instructions per second with power consumption less than 40 watts. That’s a lot of instructing, listening, and responding in a single vehicle.
While technology has helped create driving enhancements that have been implemented for some time now, including everything from braking assistance to controlling the steering wheel to prevent lane drifting, the NXP BlueBox has the potential to take self-driving and automobile technology to a new level. With the implementation of the BlueBox Driving Platform, they can use radar, sonar, cameras, and more to replicate the environment existing outside of the car in real-time. Why is self-driving technology so important? Implementing technology to create self-driving cars has the potential to reduce or eliminate car crash fatalities caused by human error while driving on the road.
Miele’s RF Oven
The future of cooking could be coming to your kitchen in the next decade. A new oven will be making an appearance in the coming months that plans to revolutionize home-cooked meals. Using radio frequency energy for cooking food, the Miele Dialog, a RF oven provides dielectric heating of food, which is similar to microwaves but cooks with greater precision. The team at Kodiak Assembly contributed to the building of the revolutionary RF oven by assembling the Printed Circuit Boards that go into the RF oven and control how the oven works. To give you an idea of how these parts fit in with the product as a whole, the Printed Circuit Boards inside the RF Oven are essential to controlling how the oven works.
An oven on its own doesn’t sound like a revolutionary appliance, but this new way of cooking food will transform how a family makes meals. In fact, the Miele RF Oven is expected to replace the microwave in the next 4 – 5 years. How could something like the RF Oven replace a steadfast appliance that’s become a near-necessity to the American household for decades? This radio frequency technology offers the unique potential to eliminate human intervention during the cooking process. Down the line, it’s expected that once parameters are set and cooking begins, there won’t be any need to periodically check in on a meal during the time it’s being cooked, as many people feel the need to do now. RF energy also better retains moisture and nutritional value by effectively avoiding overcooking, which makes meals not only tastier but keeps their nutritional value intact, also.
This highly intelligent assistance in the kitchen sets the appliance apart from current kitchen products and appliances. It’s also designed for long service life and near-zero power degradation over time along with low-voltage operation.
